Bring The Robben Island Singers into Your Classroom
The Robben Island Singers are currently available for booking at K-12 public schools, K-12 private schools, and higher educational institutions. As a group and in solo appearances, the Robben Island Singers have appeared at scores of Chicago-area high schools and colleges, ranging from Kenwood Academy High School on the South Side to Loyola University on the North Side of the city.
This unique engagement, triggered by film clips and accompanied by a full professionally-developed curriculum guide introduces your students to South Africa’s struggle against Apartheid through these former political prisoners’ life lessons in conflict resolution, forgiveness and community building.
The three ex-political prisoners connect especially well with high school and college age students because they were about that same age when they took up arms against Apartheid in an attempt to make their own communities better.
To customize and book a Robben Island Singer visit to your school or college, please call Jeff Spitz, at (773) 771-7697 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
